NC By Train and Amtrak are making it easy for families to get to the N.C. State Fair this year with three special stops at the fairgrounds in Raleigh on Thursday, Oct. 15 and five stops Friday, Oct. 16 through Sunday, Oct. 25.

Service times vary by date to accommodate all October special events, so passengers should select their travel date and destination at NCByTrain.org to view the correct schedule before booking.

Getting to and from the Fair

Thursday, Oct. 15 - Piedmont Train 72 will arrive at the fairgrounds at 1:47 p.m. and Piedmont Train 77 will arrive at 3:43 p.m. Carolinian Train 79 will return to pick up passengers  at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 16 to Sunday, Oct. 25, there will be five stops at the fairgrounds in Raleigh at approximately 10:06 a.m. and 1:47 p.m. eastbound, 1:03 p.m., 3:43 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. westbound. Make sure to select “NSF” as your station when booking tickets to and from the N.C. State Fair.

At the Fair

All passengers must be at the Amtrak Hospitality tent no later than 20 minutes before your scheduled departure time for preboarding  and check in.  You will be responsible for knowing the train status in the event of delayed trains.

Get your hand stamped for re-entry before you leave the Fair in case of delays.

Make sure your return ticket has you departing from NSF (North Carolina State Fair), not RGH (Raleigh Union Station).

Tickets are valid only for the train listed on your reservation. Trains are not interchangeable, and passengers will not be permitted to board a different train. Please call 800-USA-Rail if you need assistance booking your train tickets or changing your reservation.
