Everyday Discounts

  • Kids 2–12 years old ride half-price every day. Infants under 2 ride free.
  • Seniors 62 and over are eligible to receive a 15% discount on the lowest available rail fare.
  • AAA Members save 10% when using a AAA card.*
  • Active duty U.S. military personnel, their spouses and dependents, are eligible to receive a 10%
    discount off most Amtrak rail fares.
  • Veterans save 15% with a Veterans Advantage VetRewards Card.
  • Discounts are available to passengers with disabilities and up to one traveling companion.
  • National Association of Railroad Passengers members save 10%.
  • Students age 13–25 save 15% off the lowest Value or Flexible Fare with a valid student ID.**
  • International students save 10% with an International Student Identity Card.*
  • Group and convention travel - groups of 20 or more may be eligible to receive a discount for each 20 paying passengers.

*To take advantage of AAA, ISIC, NARP or student discounts, you must book your tickets at least three days in advance of travel.

N.C. Multi-Ride Tickets

For commuters or passengers who travel frequently between paired cities within North Carolina, an N.C. Multi-Ride ticket, good for 10 one-way trips, is available at a discounted fare.

Multi-Ride tickets offer the flexibility for frequent riders, since reservations are not required. Simply show up at the station, board the train and present your ticket to the conductor.

Tickets are good for travel seven days a week on Trains 73, 74, 75, 76, 79 or 80 and are valid for six months from the date of the first use of the ticket.

Traveling With Children

Children under 2 years old ride free when traveling with a paid adult. Up to two children, ages 2-12, travel for half fare when accompanied by a paid adult.

Unaccompanied Minors

Children age 12 and under may not travel unaccompanied. They must travel with another person who is at least 18 years old. Children 13-15 years old may travel unaccompanied under certain conditions.
